Rose Swalwell

Originally the artist behind the classic Derwentwater Designs range, Rose is inspired by her local surroundings in the Lake District when designing her countryside and nature artwork. She likes to use her imagination and threads as her paint and works each new picture by hand, blending the thread colours as she works to create wonderful watercolour landscapes. Rose originally started Derwentwater Designs in the late 1980’s with her husband Sid. They retired in 2017 and allowed Bothy Threads to continue producing their kits so that stitchers can continue to enjoy their beautiful designs for many years to come.
